Joshua Gemerek

 
Joshua Gemerek has been with Bay Aging in the Tidewater, Virginia, area since 1999 and has been senior vice president, housing since 2008. Bay Aging is a 12-county public transportation provider and a Commonwealth of Virginia designed Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency. In this position he has direct oversight of multiple affordable housing programs that include Federally Assisted Multifamily Housing Management and Development, HUD-Certified Housing Counseling, the Middle Peninsula Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and HUD Resident Service Coordination. Bay Aging owns and manages ten senior apartment complexes. Prior to that position he was their senior vice president, property management and development for three years, where he directed the development and operation of Federally Assisted Multifamily Housing. His division has secured approximately $25 million in affordable housing grants and loans to develop 317 units within a total of 10 projects. Gemerek holds a bachelor's of science degree in management from Emory and Henry College. Currently he serves on the Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) board of directors as their vice president and on numerous VHA committees, and he chairs the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula Housing Coalition, which serves as the Balance of State Continuum of Care Local Planning Group.
