Using Motivational Interviewing (MI) & Transtheoretical Model (TTM) of Change with Older Adults

When:  Jun 17, 2026 from 14:00 to 15:00 (ET)

This webinar will familiarize participants with Motivational Interviewing (MI), including the spirit of MI, the four tasks of MI (engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning), and the significance of promoting healthy behavior change with the use of ambivalence. Participants will also be introduced to the Transtheoretical Stages of Change Model (TTM) to be used in conjunction with MI which will include becoming familiar with TTM’s stages of change (precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, termination, and relapse). Participants will apply MI & TTM to cases for the purpose of analyzing, synthesizing, and applying their theoretical knowledge to promote healthy behavior change to real life situations with older adults such as substance abuse, health eating habits, medication compliance, etc.
