COLUMBUS, OH – Today, the American Association of Service Coordinators called on President Biden to quickly nominate and the U.S. Senate to confirm a strong leader to serve as U.S. Secretary of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). Millions of Americans in HUD-subsidized affordable housing rely on the stable leadership of a U.S. Senate confirmed nominee guiding the Department’s public policy, rulemaking, and funding efforts.
“Our members and the hundreds of thousands of affordable housing residents they serve are thankful for the leadership of former HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge. Her commitment to the most vulnerable among us and the spotlight she was able to shine on their needs are exactly why we need a Senate confirmed HUD Secretary at this time,” said AASC President & CEO Michelle Missler. “Service Coordinators and those they serve call on President Biden to nominate a leader who believes in supportive affordable housing, someone who understands how vital it is to link low-income families, veterans, seniors, and disabled individuals with critical community resources that keep them healthy, happy, and housed.”
AASC members are thrilled to continue to work with supportive housing champion, Deputy Secretary Adrianne Todman, as she assumes the mantle of Acting Secretary. She is an exceptional leader and comes into the role with a deep understanding of the issues and a passion for vulnerable populations HUD serves. We stand ready to assist the Administration and the U.S. Senate in nominating and approving a HUD Secretary who puts the values of supportive affordable housing where it belongs – at the Heartbeat of Housing.
