Participants will actively engage in this basic ethics training via self-reflection and assessment, review of case scenarios and development of an individual ethics enhancement plan. Attendees will be reminded of the meaning of the core social work values and ethical standards and will discuss the application to their own current practices.

Who Should Attend: Service Coordinators (older/disabled adults and families), child protective workers, social workers, property management staff

Learning Objectives:
  • List and define the 6 core social work values

  • Describe steps in an ethical decision-making model and apply them to case scenarios

  • Discuss the importance of self-awareness as it relates to ethical behavior


About the Presenter

Teri Kinsway, LISW-S, has worked in the social services field for 35 years. Currently she works full time at OSU in the College of Social Work, coordinating the school social work licensure program on the Columbus campus, and is the program manager for the OSU-Marion Social Work Program. She is also a licensed school social worker and provides contract social work services at the Ohio State School for the Blind. She provides training and consultation to a variety of agencies, and LISW supervision to social workers in the community.
