This presentation will explore the Dynamics of Domestic and Sexual Violence and how it effects individuals, families, children, and society at large. We will review the cycle of abuse, and how this becomes a generational issue. Misconceptions, red flags and the difficulties of leaving abuse will be covered as well as safe means of intervention and prevention. At the conclusion of this presentation, attendees will: be able to identify red flags of abuse; comprehend the complexities of leaving an abusive relationship; and have increased knowledge of local and national resources.

The Presenter:

Natalie Busath is a Community Education Training Specialist for SAFE, an organization in Austin, TX that is devoted to ending sexual assault, harassment, exploitation, child abuse and domestic violence across the lifespan. Before joining SAFE, Natalie worked as a prevention educator, grant coordinator, and legal and medical advocate for survivors of sexual assault. She received her MSW from the Jane Addams College of Social Work with a focus on evidence-based behavioral health care. She is passionate about bridging communication across disciplines to provide inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed services to all survivors of violence and abuse.
