Janice C. Monks
- President
Janice C. Monks is the President of the American Association of Service Coordinators (AASC), an Ohio–based national nonprofit organization whose 2,000+ members serve more than 430,000 seniors living in low-income housing. Her experience during more than 25 years of working in the senior housing industry has included housing management, social service administration, public policy development, designing supportive service programs, and developing and implementing service coordinator programs in both HUD and tax credit housing. She has provided congressional testimony on the benefits of service coordination and has influenced the administrative policies governing the service coordinator program within HUD.
Ms. Monks is a nationally recognized advisor and trainer of service coordinators, managers, developers and owners of affordable housing and has contributed to several publications, including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s “A How-to Guide for Service Coordination,” and co-author of the “National Resident Service Coordinators’ Perception Study: The Role of Service Coordination in Independent Housing Communities.” She is a member of several national organizations including the National Low Income Housing Coalition, the Elderly Housing Network Committee, the Family Resident Services Coalition, and has provided testimony before Congress on the expanding role of service coordination in affordable family and elderly housing. The National Council on Aging recognized her with the 2004 Sid Specter Housing award of Honor for her efforts in linking housing and services. Jan was selected to serve as an at-large delegate at the White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA), held in Washington, DC in December of 2005.
Janice is a graduate of Bowling Green State University of Ohio and holds an Ohio state license in social work.

Judith Chavis
- Executive Director
Judy has more than 25 years of association and family and community assistance experience. Prior to starting at AASC, Judy was an Assistant Executive Director at the Ohio Job and Family Services Directors’ Association for 13 years, a Project Manager at Advocacy and Protective Services, Inc. for four years and a Protective Service Representative at Advocacy and Protective Services, Inc. for five years. She has also worked as a Psychology Assistant/Program Consultant and a Community-Based Residential Care Facility Administrator. Judy received her B.A. in Political Science/Sociology at The Ohio State University and her Master’s in Public Administration at Ohio University.

Christine Schnitzer
- Membership and Chapter Relations Director
Christine has more than 20 years of association management experience,
covering everything from publications to customer service to membership
to meeting planning. During her tenure at the American Ceramic Society
as Director of Membership, Meetings and Expositions, Christine
participated on several strategic planning teams that set the direction
for the organization at large, as well as two member needs assessment
surveys which led to new product and service offerings. In 2002,
Christine was instrumental in forming a new association for potters,
which exceeded its member recruitment goals by 100% in the first of a
three-year plan. Christine’s responsibilities at AASC include member recruitment and retention as well as chapter relations.

Scott Leyshon
- Publications and Marketing Manager
Scott 's resume includes a bachelor's degree in public relations from Capital University, where he was a writer/editor for Capital's student newspaper, The Chimes. His most recent experience includes working as the marketing coordinator/managing editor for BLF Management, an association management company in Columbus, OH. Scott is responsible for recruiting sponsors, exhibitors and advertisers for the National Service Coordinator Conference. He also designs publications and marketing pieces for the AASC.

Annette Cooperider, CPS
- Executive Assistant/Office Manager
Annette has been the in administrative management field for over 20 years with eight of those in the non-profit sector. Annette holds a BSBA from Ashland University. She earned her CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) designation in 2007 from the IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals). Annette is active in the local chapter of the IAAP, serving on its Board of Directors for the past 2 years.

Katie Dodson
- Communications and Public Policy Coordinator
Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in professional writing from The Ohio State University, where she worked as a reporter and copy editor for the school newspaper, The Lantern. She also spent time during her senior year working for Gongwer News Service, an online political newspaper based in downtown Columbus, OH, where she covered state legislative committee meetings. Her most recent experience includes working as a reporter for Suburban News Publications, a community newspaper group stationed in Columbus, where she covered several different local municipalities and school districts. Katie’s responsibilities at AASC include writing and editing publications as well as working on the organization’s public policy initiatives.

Megan Burns
- Support Services Coordinator
Megan is the support services coordinator for AASC. She joins us from Huntington National Bank, where she had several different roles. While employed by Huntington, Megan was a skills coach for new customer service representatives in the Central Ohio area. She enjoys working closely with people and making a lasting impression. Megan serves as the receptionist for AASC. Her other responsibilities include assisting with association administrative duties, mailings and membership processing. Megan is the mother of one daughter named Camdyn. Most of her down time is devoted to Camdyn and her husband, Curtis.
